Der Zyklon Idai hat die Stadt Beira und umliegende Dörfer verwüstet und die Region bis zur Grenze von Zimbabwe überflutet. Nun versuchen die Katastrophen-Hilfstrupps den betroffenen Gemeinden und Menschen so gut es geht zu helfen. Hafen und Flughafen von Beira bleiben aber zum Glück einsatzfähig und verschiedene Länder sowie internationale Agenturen und Organisationen bringen Nahrungsmittel, Medizin und andere lebenswichtige Hilfsmittel ins Land.

Am schlimmsten betroffen von Idai ist wohl zentral Mosambik, die Haupt-Touristenstädte Vilanculos (ca. 500 km südlich von Beira), Tofo und die Inseln des Bazaruto Archipels bleiben komplett verschont. Die nördlichen Quirimbas Archipel Inseln sowie die Städte Pemba, Nampula und Ilha de Mozambique blieben ebenfalls verschont und sind nicht vom Zyklon betroffen.  Hier warten schöne Strände und sonniges Wetter!

Während wir natürlich zu tiefst betroffen sind von der Zerstörung und Nachwirkung des Zyklons in Mosambik, müssen wir trotz allem daran denken, dass das Einkommen und die Arbeitsstellen sehr vieler Menschen in Mosambik stark vom Tourismus abhängig sind! Deshalb freuen wir uns sehr darauf, Sie in Mosambik begrüßen zu dürfen!

Cyclone Idai has devastated the city of Beira and surrounding villages, causing destruction and flooding as far inland as Zimbabwe.  Large scale emergency relief efforts are underway to try and assist the communities affected. Thankfully the port and airport of Beira remain operational and various countries, international agencies and companies and bringing in much needed food, medicine and other essential items. 

Cyclone Idai's impact was focused on central Mozambique and has in no way affected the main tourist towns of Vilanculos (which is nearly 500 kms by road south of Beira), Tofo and the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago.  The northern Quirimbas Archipelago islands and towns of Pemba, Nampula and Ilha de Mozambique have also not been affected by the cyclone in any way.  Beautiful beaches and sunny skies await!

Whilst our hearts are broken by the devastation in central Mozambique, please remember that Mozambique depends heavily on tourism to create income, employment opportunities and livelihoods for many people. Mozambique looks forward to welcoming visitors to its shores!
